Ascend

The name of this project is “Ascend”. This project contains many specific subjects but the main idea is life. My goal for this project is to get the viewers to uncage there mind and get them to think of things more open mindedly and on a higher level. Too many people today are close minded people who are afraid to go against the “normal” things in society. I myself was among this same group of people until I really looked into myself and realized that it’s good to be an individual and that I would never be true to myself if I kept Conforming to society. The thought of inspiring someone else the make that same decision is what inspired me to create this design.
My use of contrast in color, texture, and size balances the design and creates a sense of depth. I successfully used these techniques to create a believable scene. I placed the most important parts of the composition (the seed of life symbol, the merkaba, and the meditating figure with chakras) in the center (making them the focal point) to put emphasis on the message that I want to portray. The Gestalt Law of Proximity is used here showing that these forms belong together and are seen as one. The color scheme is analogous with values of blues, purples, and pinks.
I was successful at portraying my message to the people who are aware of the symbols used in the design but I can’t say that I achieved my goal. My goal is ultimately to spark the minds of people who have their mind “stuck in the box”, so to speak. I feel that I was successful at getting the viewers’ attention with the aesthetic part of the design but I’m not sure if the message is getting across. I think that I can get my message across by creating more designs with the same idea and grouping them as a series of designs. I believe that if I do this viewers will notice that I am trying to deliver a message.
